Mickael "Patiño" Brana is a young artist and illustrator born in 1990 in Bayonne, France.
He was already 20 years old when he started drawing, influenced by his teenage skateboard years and Street Art culture.
He is self taught artist and has developed a very personal universe which is an original mix between Urban Art, Expressionism, Surrealism, Primitivism, Illustration, 50's Cartoon, Children's book, Psychedelia, Doodle Art, Folk Art, Cubism, Graphic Design, Skate Art, etc.In his work he usually draws a bunch of weird animals, funny monsters, strange humans as well as organic forms, plants, masks, symbols, semi-abstract forms, patterns, lettering and anthropomorphism figures.
The universe of Patiño is the result of all his reflections about human condition, human psyche (mind, emotions, thoughts, memory, fears, joys, dreams, conscious/ unconscious, …) , the relation between the human being and the Cosmos. the Nature, science, the duality, the invisible, the ancient civilizations , modern society's problem, philosophical / metaphysical / spiritual questions, the mystery of life, among many other subjects…
But he prefers to leave his work open to interpretation from the viewer, because his paintings have always a lot of different interpretations possible.
He works with acrylic paintings, marker pens, pencils, pens, collages as well as digital techniques on different type of supports, and he is keen to keep experimenting and expanding his own universe in the future.
