Triumph Learning (subsidiary of Haights Cross Communications) New York, NY
Senior Graphic Designer
1/00-Present

Under the production director, I lead CMS-based instructional designs from conception to completion and oversee multiple projects translated, tackle day-to-day problems independently, seeking information and resolution with relevant editors, composition vendors, and production managers. Responsible for successful design execution of classroom book interiors, teacher’s guides, and supplemental curriculum based activities within a subset of state and national test preparation books (Coach) published at Triumph Learning. Working under strict deadlines dictated by schedules, I communicate the status of projects in weekly meetings. I initialize the design for a book series, adapt, and/or standardize new or existing templates accordingly.

I work well under pressure with designers and other departments such as editorial, and outside composition vendors. I hire and supervise freelance illustrators and designers when necessary to create impact visuals with bold new ideas, and carry them through to execution. I attend preliminary launch meetings for all new products, including focus groups and survey feedback. My initial approach to a new series is to incorporate new software, technology, and platforms, to make real forward progress to steer our brand into blended products in digital and print.

Since the introduction of digital curriculum in educational publishing, I made myself available to the digital demand of the market by adapting and staying current with digital design trends, translating that knowledge into bold new ideas, carrying them through to execution.

10 plus years proficiency: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, InCopy, Acrobat Pro, Quark, Word, and Excel.

Knowledgeable self starter in Adobe CS5.5, Dreamweaver, CSS, CSS3, WordPress, Flash, have conceptual understanding of eBook, Actionscript 3.0, some Javascript, jQuery, HTML, Website and Digital media including landing pages & email blasts.
