For my eightt birthday, I received a Walter Foster drawing kit, complete with a collection of charcoal sticks, conté and graphite pencils, a sketch pad and a Walter foster “How To Draw Landscapes” book. I’ve been hooked on drawing ever since.

I graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1980. My entry into the “world of design” began at a small, but very busy silk-screen printing shop with a diverse output, ranging from displays for the Royal Ontario Museum and Art Gallery of Ontario to trade show displays for the likes of Northern Telecom and Commodore Computers to props for television and film. During my time there I gained an in-depth understanding of type, hand-lettering and hand-cutting silkscreen stencils and developed an abiding love and appreciation for typography and the art of lettering.

In 1985, I took the opportunity to work as a signage designer and fabricator for GO Transit, (a major regional transit agency in the Toronto Ontario and the surrounding region). I have always believed in the important role played by public transit in building sustainable and livable cities and I am proud have been proud to be able to contribute the success of this organization.

Shortly after starting to work for GO, I also began and continue to operate a part-time freelance design business and I have also continued to paint and draw and now include the design, development and publishing of custom and retail typefaces in my repertoire.

I bring along with my 32+ years' experience in the “design world” my skills as an artist and technician plus a dedication to delivering the best possible results to my work as a graphic designer in the fields of environmental design, wayfinding signage, corporate identify, retail signage, project management and type design.
