Niki Karagiozidou is a Greece based trash artist.
She got involved initially with puppetry and co-organized several workshops for children. The goal was to create puppets with simple, ordinary materials that would have been otherwise thrown into the rubbish bin. This triggered her involvement with trash art. Since then, she has been using found objects and useless materials to transform her fantasies into reality.
Nature’s living beings (bee, snail, spider) often sparked her imagination early on, whereas her later compositions have strayed away from the realm of reality (R.o.B.o.T. the eye, angel). Wire, light bulbs, photo film, twitter, algae are just some of the materials she uses.
Inspired by Apple’s famous slogan “Think Different”, she based her last project, titled "iTRASH" on the reassembling of a G4 PowerBook. By using parts of it (screen,battery, keyboard) and peripheral materials such as LED and frames, she created four new parts. Read Less
