After my study in Technical Business Management, during which I had my main focus on internal logistics, I decided to gain some more in-depth knowledge about myself and head to art school. Given my deep interest in digital media and computer programming I went with Digital Media Design, a field of study which fuses computers (or any thing digital, really) and art into a relatively new form of expression.

During my Master Thesis I researched and developed a responsive painting based on genetica. I have had the honour to exhibit this work in the famous Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

When we were working on our respective graduation projects in 2008, a few fellow students and me started our own interactive agency, Catch Interactive. My usual tasks include concept design, technical direction and, of course, programming. Catch Interactive has since worked for clients such as Forbo Flooring, Icova, Mokum Mariteam, Dissident-wear and VNU Exhibitions.

I am fond of anything that exceeds the current paradigms of gaming and interactive experiences. In arts, my main focus is the building of installation art, perferably for use in public buildings and spaces. I believe that by placing art in a public space I can entertain and please people when, for example, waiting for their train to arrive and thus enhance their experience of an otherwise less interesting moment.

I also believe that using digital arts commercial messages can be made fun again and can offer people experiences that they voluntarily engage in. In my ideal world, all advertisements are fun rather than intrusive, so people will actually enjoy them instead of despise them.

When not working, among other things I enjoy cooking and eating the result of that labour, reading, watching films, taking walks in the forest and playing games (and generally thinking about them and how they can be used for learning). Read Less
