Arthur Meehan's photography concentrates on the sensual curves and tones of the natural world, in particular female nudes and flowers.

His artistic heroes are the sculptor Rodin and photographer Edward Weston. Arthur is inspired by natural beauty - pure and unadorned as nature intended and this informs his beautiful studies. His journey quite simply is 'through the heart'.

When photographing nudes, he photographs in a very soft light that creates long exposures, creating softness to his work. All work is shot on film and hand printed. Through his unique photographic process, Meehan creates intimate and yet raw portraits with subtle variations in tone and mood.

Arthur Meehan (b.1968) in New Jersey, USA, now lives between Denmark and London. He studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York, from 1989-91. He has photographed for companies including De Beers, before focusing on his fine art photography. His work has been used in a variety of publications including; 125 Magazine, EXIT Magazine, Sunday Times, Observer, The Guardian, Esquire, Black and White Photography and Wallpaper.

Meehan's work has won many awards including: in 2009, Meehan was awarded first prize in the 'Fine Art - Nudes' category at the International Photography Awards, a competition to discover new and emerging talent and to promote the appreciation of photography. In 2010 he won first place in the fine art still life category of the 'PX3 Prix de la Photographie Awards' – Europe's biggest and most prestigious photography competition. This year his work was chosen for the Saatchi Gallery in London and appears on screens showcasing photography from around the globe and he also gained the honour of a Spotlight Award by the highly prestigious Black & White Magazine – his interview appears in the November issue globally.

A recent collaboration has resulted in two beautiful limited edition special collectors' books of his work: one of his flower studies entitled 'Rustle' and the other of his nudes entitled 'Secludere' . Read Less
