Work Experience

McDonald's

Shift Manager

I worked at McDonald's as a manager while pursuing my degree in graphic design. I was a manager for about three and a half years and learned a lot in my time there. I had to open the store, which involved handling money, preparing my morning crew and organizing them, taking care of deliveries, and many other responsibilities.

It was my first "real" job, and the experience I have from my time there is invaluable.

The Nickel

Graphic Designer

I am currently a graphic designer at The Nickel, a small classifieds newspaper. My main responsibilities are creating display ads for our weekly publication. I work very closely with our company's sales representatives to help ensure that we provide each client with an ad they're happy with. Once a week I lay out the publication and make sure that every ad is in its correct placement and that all classifieds have been placed.

I also deal with special publications that we print separately. During the summer months we produce a monthly editorial publication called "Our Backyard". It focuses on great local activities people can go and explore. Along with laying out the paper I also help create the display ads that are published in the paper.
