Gabriel Marques was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on the 28th February of 1984 (under the star sign of Pisces). After 1 year Gabriel and his family moved to the countryside (town named Araçatuba) and grew up there. When he reached 17, he moved to South Africa (Johannesburg) for one year as an exchange student for the wildest experience of his life. When he got back to Brazil he started studding Industrial Design in one of the best art/design colleges in Sao Paulo, He studied there for 4 years and graduated as a Graphic Designer and worked in an agency for awhile. While Gabriel was in college he went to Orlando/Florida to work an DisneyWorld's Magic Kingdom as backstage Costuming and Cosmotology for 2 months. Also, he worked with renowned stylist Gloria Calil in 2005 for a subject in a magazine, illustrating her concept for what is best for mean wear. His artwork was also an inspiration for fashion stylist Rabbith Ive, giving her imagination to develop a whole collection for her post-graduate work in high fashion Couture.Throughout his whole life he´s been inspired by all the travelling around the world and teaching himself on how to draw and paint, since is something he was naturally born with and always loved to practice and never forced to.
After a period of 3 months in Paris/ France, Gabriel moved to Dublin/ Ireland and lived there for 1 year and 4 months, working for VenueOne.com as a graphic designer and as a Photography Director, Gabriel got back to Brazil because of personal reasons. During his time in Dublin, he painted and created his own techniques to create visual art as a way to communicate and express myself, it can be watercolor, sketches or as digital art in the computer, or even with photography and digital modification of images. In November of 2010, he won the Champion Sports - Adidas Competition along with two other contestants. His artwork was published on an billboard. In February of 2011, his artwork was exhibited at a bar in Dublin called The Good Bits Bar, thirteen (A1 and A2 sizes) pieces were chosen to be on the walls of the bar for a month - He sold three of them!! After he came back to Brazil in June of 2011 he started working as freelancer while looking for work. In february of 2012 he started working at Live Design (Product Company), leaving there in August.
In September, that year, he did some t-shirts prints and some design work for a t-shirt brand, and after that, he got invited by Giovanni Bianco, who is the Art Director of Madonna, to work in his Studio here in Sao Paulo. He learned a lot there but felt he didnt belong so he left the Studio. He is currently working as a freelancer and started his own company. After he left the studio, Gabriel went for a 2 month trip to Los Angeles to be there for his best friends wedding, and to rest and think about the future. He got back and started to teach myself how to paint and create more canvas art and express himself in an even more artistic way. He also makes tattoos, leaned how to make them in 2009, as an illustrator and creative artist, learning how to tattoo was quite easy for him,
In 2013 he worked with the singer-songwriter/performer YANN on his illustrated Lyric Video for the song "Spotlight" also created his Official EP Cover and after that in some small projects.He spent about the whole year of 2014 at the hair saloon named "Novo Arte", working as a tattoo artist. Some of his artwork is still in exhibition there. While working there he decided to start drawing and paint artists he admires (pop music) amd started to get recognition from them. On August 2014, Gabriel and another 12 artists were part of an exhibition at Romero Britto Gallery in Sao Paulo, about Marilyn Monroe and Madonna, he sold 2 pieces. After that he started selling and making creative artwork for different clients, from Brazil and all over the world, also spent some time creating his own projects for personal marketing, eventually stopped working at the studio and now he works from home. His latest works involve names like Stalking Gia (singer-songwriter from NY) and Marina and the Diamonds (Welsh singer-songwriter). Read Less
