Mikey grew up in a family of fishermen and builders in Brisbane, but broke with family tradition when he chose a career in design over a life of labouring and shark-catching. In 1995, after honing his skills as a Graphic Designer, he started his own design studio in Brisbane. From there he launched a fashion/music magazine called Plastic, which he eventually sold before moving to Melbourne to work as an Art Director on Myer, at Singleton O&M in 2002.

In early 2004, Mikey joined FCB Melbourne, where he worked for almost three years on Honda, Kraft, Stihl, White Pages and a host of other clients across all mediums. Some of the work he produced in that time was showcased in industry publications such as Lürzer’s Archive and Shots, and some of it was also recognised at various award shows including Cannes.

In 2008 Mikey began freelancing around Melbourne as a Senior Art Director at various agencies, including Publicis Mojo, CHE, JWT, DDB and SapientNitro. In the process he created several integrated campaigns for Ford, Kraft, Funtastic and the Victorian Government – including the much-publicised ‘Championship Moves’ campaign for the Department of Justice.

In November 2010 Mikey joined Helsinki Agency Melbourne where he worked on various integrated campaigns for clients such as Yarra Trams, V/Line, Racing Victoria, Contiki, Pioneer and Karcher.

In December 2011 Mikey joined CHE where he currently works on various clients such as Foxtel, City of Melbourne, The Salvation Army and Sea World, Movie World and Wet n Wild Theme Parks.

When he’s not art directing, Mikey is busy being a father to his children Ruby and Albert, as well as frontman of legendary pub-punk/rock band, Mammoth Mammoth. Read Less
