Background Story
I've been smitten with the practice and process of Commercial Art since since a long-ago high school visit to a rust-belt industry art department, where I witnessed pocket protector-clad staff artists design and execute flawless layouts and crisply drafted illustration. A awesome display.
Returning home from Art School with a Visual Communication degree in hand, I set to forge my own career wrestling with the tools of the ancient trades: stat cameras, silkscreen, offset printing, even art direction of table-top merchandise and automotive repair photo shoots, which led to a jackpot journey to Chicago and a variety of ad agency boiler rooms, where I quickly illustrated storyboards and ad comps under the lash of impossible deadlines set by award-thirsty creative directors.
Throughout this trial-by-fire I continued my education in marketing and art at Northwestern University and the Art Institute of Chicago, while illustrating news and feature articles for the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader and Washington City Paper. At the same time I learned to play drums and became a professional musician, performing in both America and Europe, recording great music along the way and creating some decent rock posters.
These experiences have led me to today, where I serve as a accomplished illustrator of new product ideas, whiteboard animation videos and graphic facilitation from Shanghai to Paris, Munich to Milwaukee.
I'm enjoying a remarkable journey and have met and worked with kind, creative and energetic people who love what they do and appreciate what I do. I count myself as incredibly fortunate and look forward to helping you with your next creative project.
