Joshua Hardisty is a designer, author, educator, and artist with work experiences ranging from non-profit art center Intermedia Arts where he designed, printed and even trimmed all the marketing materials to Target where he helped plot graphic takeovers of NYC’s most busy subway stations and designed branded merch. Most recently he spent 4 years at Minneapolis retail agency Latitude concepting and executing pop-up shops, events, and other experiential projects for clients like Adidas and Finish Line. In addition, he and his wife Kimberlee Whaley have co-run the design company the MVA Studio since 2003 working with éS Skateboarding, Mark Batty Publisher, MCAD, and the Soap Factory, amongst others.

His work with The MVA has been published in the best-selling design books “Hand Job: A Catalog of Type” and “Pulled: A Catalog of Screen Printing” (both by Mike Perry for Princeton Architectural Press). Hardisty's work at Latitude has been recognized by AIGA Minnesota, the Type Director’s Club, AdFed, and the American Advertising Awards.

Hardisty is the author of 3 books about design and visual culture including “New Skateboard Graphics” (Mark Batty Publisher) and “Function, Restraint & Subversion in Typography” (Princeton Architectural Press). Read Less
