CTV Calgary
Master Control/VTR Operator
Working in master control requires a high amount of attention to detail, from managing the playlist of all commercial and program content for the day to quality control and troubleshooting of any issues that may occur with the signal being sent out to homes. VTR required that I understand broadcast acceptable levels for both audio and video as commercials and programs were being cached into the local server.

Education
Mount Royal College
Broadcasting Diploma
At Mount Royal College the broadcasting program is divided into segments. The first semester of first year deals with radio in an overview, while second semester specializes into 2 areas (News and Commercial) with a technical requirement in both semesters. I specialized in commercial during the radio year.
Second year is focused on television, with first semester again being an overview featuring news, commercial, and technical. In second semester it specializes again, giving news, commercial, or technical as the options. I specialized in technical.
Special experiences that I had in my time at Mount Royal College included being the technician who ran the 2004 provincial election coverage for CMRC radio which went to air and was available on the internet. I was the director for the television news broadcast (Live to tape) of the 2006 National election, and was required to manage all the incoming feeds from live reporting to recorded news packages, as well as guide the on-air anchors.
I finished my time at Mount Royal College with an internship at CityTV in Calgary where for 3 weeks I worked in the videotape and master control departments.
