My name is Michael Cummo and I’m currently a senior at Boston University majoring in photojournalism and minoring in Muslim Studies. I became interested in Photojournalism during high school when I was the first high school student accepted into a college-based photo internship at the Newark Star-Ledger. Throughout my internship I shot all types of news, including professional sports games, trial stakeouts, spot news, and profiles. During my first year at college I was one of three freshman selected to be on the newspaper staff. I rose through the ranks of the photo department, establishing myself as a sports photographer. I then became the photo editor of that paper, The Daily Free Press, and now sit on the board of directors. I have interned at Sports Illustrated, with the Governor of Massachusetts, and for a photography studio in London called FMG. I ultimately would like to become a combat photographer, but while I am in college I have pursued everything I found. I’ve photographed President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney, Claire Danes and Julianne Moore, Derek Jeter and Landon Donovan. I’ve been to rallies, protests, tarmacs, and press conferences; all because of photojournalism. I love what I do, and I hope you love it too. Read Less
