Zen Internet

Lead Creative / Senior UX Designer

I returned to Zen to lead the creative output of the internal agency and rebuild the design and front-end development team. My role was a blend of UI / UX design, front-end development, team leadership and management. I was responsible for resourcing and scheduling, establishing design briefs, specs and costings while mentoring other members of the team.

I was later asked to join the Systems Development team to establish UX principles and practice, in order to support the wider business in their goal to develop award-winning customer applications. Working closely with developers and business analysts as part of an Agile team, projects included the creation of a cross-platform mobile app and redesign of the wholesale customer portal.

Elite Group

Senior Web Designer

Built in ExpressionEngine, the Elite Telecom website targeted business users in search of voice, mobile and connectivity solutions. The site was subject to continual review and improvements based on data gathered from various third-party analytics. My role involved building and maintaining the front-end of the website; structuring templates within ExpressionEngine and contributing towards the site's overall UX in order to generate leads for the sales team.

During my time at Elite, I also worked on an eCommerce project as the Founder setup on an online tea / coffee supply business. Leading a small team of designers and developers, my involvement focussed on the CuppaCo brand, the customer facing website and overall user experience. CuppaCo, built on the Magento eCommerce platform, was under consistent review in order to identify new features and refine existing functionality. Changes were based largely on customer feedback, user testing and analytical data, in order to improve site conversion, checkout completion, cart abandonment etc.

Zen Web Solutions

Web Designer

A division of Zen Internet, Zen Web Solutions (ZWS) operated as a fully-fledged Digital Marketing agency, offering a range of services from web site design and development through to search engine, email and social media marketing.

Over the 6 years I spent at the company, my role within the team developed alongside my skill-set and web design portfolio for a variety of SME and Blue Chip clients. I was responsible for initial web page layouts and design concepts; producing bespoke high quality mock-ups based on the requirements, technical specification and creative brief established directly with the client. I progressed the designs into fully compliant and cross browser tested HTML / CSS page templates. Depending on the project scope, I would either manage the static site build independently with the client through to completion, or collaborate with the Development team to integrate into the in-house CMS or eCommerce platform.

Design Force Associates

Junior Web Designer

Initially joining the Design Force team on a short fixed term contract, 2 weeks turned into a little over 2 years and was a great kick start for my career. As a graphic design agency branching out into web and multimedia, I was able to offer the skills I had learnt at University to design and build web sites, produce bespoke Flash content and develop multimedia software.
