Bishop was born and raised in San Rafael, California. Early on she was enthralled with the arts and sciences and spent hours drawing animals using her favorite live models, beanie babies. As a teen she obsessed over Henry Van Carter’s medical illustrations and has been influenced by artists such as Chris Van Allsburg, Jim Stitt and Lionel Lindsay. Bishop received a degree in Botany from Humboldt State University and a certificate degree in science illustration from CSU Monterey. She currently works as a temporary illustrator at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and wants her work to encourage scientific exploration within the public. If not drawing, she can be found hiking around in the forest looking for lichens and bryohpytes.
