My name is Max. I studied Illustration at Bournemouth arts university, went onto work as a sculpture then designer for my farther’s furniture company, Mark Brazier-Jones. During my time working in furniture design i learnt the processes of taking a concept through from its preliminary design to its final finished outcome. As well as how to sculpt in a broad range of materials and techneiques from tradittional approaches such as lost wax casting to sculpting with steel and anything that could be found around the workshop.

During the last years working with Mark i was introduced to CAD and then through that Zbrush. Zbrush was a clear choice for our work flow as Marks work had such strong enthases on organic forms and a free-flow artistic approach to design. After leaving Marks i went onto pursuing my own interests in fine-art painting. Eventually i came back to using Zbrush.

At present i have moved away from fine-art painting to concentrate on concept art & character design. I hope that the surreal futurism that i explored through my time painting and the attention to aesthetic design that i was taught whilst working for Mark has fed into the work i make today.

My work is rooted in science-fiction and its ability, aswell as its limitations at exploring how we see ourselves in the now and where we see our selves in the future. With a good healthy dose of oddity and absurdity. Surrealism as well as futurism playing a big part in the artistic DNA of my interests. Enjoying the process of exploring possible aesthetics of the abstracted future.
