Work Experience

Big Blue Bubble

Artist

An artist with Big Blue Bubble is responsible for creating the various graphical assets that go into their games. I have brought my years of web and interactive design to this role and have introduced a lot of the principles of usability, accessibility, and end-user thinking to our department. I also have brought with me an understanding of the agency process including approval points throughout. I introduced a method of wireframing and rapid prototyping as well as a selection of tools for doing so. I also pushed for the use of layer styles and vector art when designing interface elements to make edits and final optimizations more efficient. To improve the efficient and consistent use of styles, colours and assets, I implemented the use of shared libraries and a style guide. I am currently developing my skills in 2D illustration and 3D modelling.

Interim Marketing Manager

This was an interim position where I was asked to step up and lead a small department and help it form into a team that an experienced marketing director could come in and take over. In the ten months, I held the position, I took a team of three including myself and grew it to a team of eight. I guided the team to set up a project management system, including schedules, work-backs, proposals, approvals and delivery check-offs. We documented the department’s strategies and set up resources for the rest of the company to better help them to maintain the company’s brand and maintain good relations with the marketing department. I also lead the team through the redeployment and redesign of the companies website to better follow industry standards and make it easier to maintain and update by the team moving forward.

I strove to educate a tech-based company about the importance of building a brand through being consistent and diligent about the message, image, tone, and quality. I was responsible for creating corporate promotional materials, social media assets, advertisements and app store assets ranging from printed materials, digital graphics, and videos.

Vivid Creative

Art Director

Working alongside the Creative Director I aided them in the development of concepts by taking part in client meetings, brainstorming sessions, and sketching concepts. Once a concept is selected I am then responsible for realizing the creative director’s initial vision within the production environment. I achieved this by directing a designer and supervising their progress or by actually completing the production work myself. Our projects span the range of media from traditional print design to web experiences to video and animation.
