My professional leap in to the world of photojournalism started back in 2008 when I was accepted on to the National Council for the Training of Journalists' Press Photography course in Sheffield, UK.

For eight months, under the watchful eye of renowned photographer Paul Delmar, I honed my photojournalism skills; including writing and reporting, videography and photographic law and copyright.

It was during this time that publications such as the BBC, The Daily Mail, The Daily Express and DIVE Magazine started publishing my work, and I eventually began a full time position at The Derby Telegraph and its sister publication, The Derbyshire Magazine.

Today I'm based in Copenhagen where I specialise in Sport and Action Photography, Corporate Photography and Editorial assignments. My photojournalistic approach, combined with creative lighting techniques and climbing dangerously-high objects, has attracted returning clients such as Nike, Condé Nast Traveller, Deloitte, Carlsberg, Sennheiser, The Times and SCUBA magazine.

Previous clients have described me as fast, friendly and funny (and many comment on my quirky socks, too). I'm always exploring new avenues with my photography, but also rely heavily on a long list of ideas and themes that have been successful in the past. I like to get stuck in and can often be found lying down in the dirt to get a better angle.

More and more clients are hiring me to help them with their video and short-film promotions, too.

In November 2011 I was the winner of the NCTJ Photographer of the Year award, and a Midlands Sports Photographer of the Year finalist

I also run Shooting Copenhagen - a series of photography workshops that take place in and around the Danish capital.

Before photography came along my biggest passion in life was music. And I think it's fair to say that these days I like pretty much all genres, but my main musical weakness will always be good old Rock 'n Roll. Having been the lead singer and guitarist in a band for several years it will always be hard for me to shake off any rock-related habits.

I am also an Assistant BSAC Ocean Diver instructor and Dive Leader, meaning that I get the opportunity to plan and lead diving expeditions in the waters around the UK. I have been fortunate enough to mix my dive skills with my love of travelling, and to date have journeyed as far south as Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, as well as visiting many parts of the European continent, Africa and North America.

Other hobbies include snowboarding, studying history, running, yoga, architecture, reading literature and I am currently learning to speak Danish now that I have moved to Copenhagen. Read Less
