I am an illustrator from Houston, Texas. I work mostly in comics and sketch cards and love the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres.

I write and draw the self-published graphic novel series, Land of the Rats which is about a race of rat-humans and their adventures and struggles in an otherworldly setting. Many years in the making, my stories had their impetus in the late 1980s black & white revolution that happened in the comics industry. While first becoming interested in all things Marvel, it was really the original Ninja Turtles series and Heavy Metal magazine that set me on a path to telling my own stories. In those days I was into Dungeons & Dragons and of course, Star Wars, so a sci-fi/fantasy setting became the vehicle through which I could tell any story I wanted. A few years and lots of sleepless nights later everything coalesced into Land of the Rats.

Land of the Rats tells the story of Jack Natari, a hybrid rat-human from the nation of Raelak and his adventures after being exiled from Rat City. Wandering deep into the desolate Vastness of Blask, Jack meets many friends and foes, encounters strange beings, and befriends the dragon Mephiliaxus who may hold the secret to Jack’s quest.

At 18 years old I had created a world to tell stories in but I actually had no interesting stories to tell. Around this time I was becoming interested in history, mythology, and religion which fed into my “world-building” and gave my characters a little more depth. Life experience is usually a good place to draw inspiration from and many experiences of myself and close friends also found their way into the work which added dynamic layers to the unfolding story. Over time the story began to write itself!

Deviating from the periodical nature of most comics, Land of the Rats books are organized by chapter title. This allows me the freedom to tell stories anywhere in the timeline as many prequels and sequels are currently in the works. Currently there are five books available which can be purchased online in either printed or digital format. Read Less
