Rainfall
Owner, Head of Design
Rainfall specializes in creating rich, engaging brand and product experiences for clients including Dolby, Armani, Ferragamo, Nexo, The Met Museum, The Weather Channel, Truckstop.com, and Beckett Collectables.
/ In my role as Head of Design /
I have built, organized, and nurtured a design team of as many as 6 to achieve effective creative outcomes for our clients. In several instances our team has worked with client leadership to define the primary roadmap for their cross-functional product teams of all sizes, the largest being more than 250 people.
My typical activities include high-level strategic guidance for our client teams and their products, and fostering relationships with their leadership to envision and execute complex and ambitious projects, either exclusively via our creative team, or as a partnership between our team and theirs.
I lead our team to identify and deliver new initiatives for our clients based on opportunities we see within their industries.
We have received several design awards from Fast Company, AIGA, Communication Arts, Awwwards, and The FWA, as well as publication in numerous outlets, and client-respective industry recognition.
/ In my role as Owner /
In Rainfall’s 6 years in business we have experienced sustained 48% year-over-year growth, with revenue increasing from 6-7 figures, and an average profit margin of 31%. We have grown from myself to as many as 7 full-time staff, peaking at 10 people in total. I lead new business efforts, securing a roster that has included Fortune 100 and 500 companies. Our new-business strategy includes referrals, cold outreach and a strict policy of no spec. work.
I proactively hired operations leadership and worked closely with them to define HR policies and creative operations, with a focus on DEI, healthcare, and best-in-class compensation. We were recognized by BuiltIn as one of Seattle’s best small companies to work for in 2022 with an applicant to hire ratio of 84:1.

Design Director
As Design Director of the New York office I oversaw the design and user experience work produced by the creative staff. My role included mentorship, oversight, and management of the creative team, as well as resourcing new and existing projects.
In addition to internal creative leadership, I met and communicated with clients from the initial engagement through to project completion. If there was a proposal stage to acquiring their business I provided leadership as well as concept development and visual design for their consideration.
My goal while working within this role was to not lose touch with the design process, so I would typically run a design project in addition to my other responsibilities. At the end of the day I am a designer, I love creating work, and the approach at Fantasy was that every single creative, regardless of their title, was hands-on.
Clients included: Google, Sports Illustrated, Spotify, Balenciaga, and Kayak.

Associate Design Director
My role as Associate Design Director covered all day-to-day creative tasks, both in the creation of new work and business development. A typical workload included leading design on one project, art directing another, and working with our new business team to review and scope new projects coming in.
A substantial portion of the work I did was in the creative pitch stage, where I worked with UX designers and strategy team members to properly craft and execute creative proposals. I frequently lead in-person presentations to clients both in the initial credentials stage as well as the creative pitch stage, and thrived on having conversations that lead to excellent, more thoughtful work.

Sr. Product Designer / Lead
While a Sr. Product Designer I continued to develop and execute my passion for creating intuitive and user-centered design solutions for websites and digital products such as mobile and web applications. I drew from my strong background in UX/UI design, user research, and product development to contribute work that not only strove to be visually distinctive, but also effective and engaging for its audience.
My day-to-day work included flow-mapping alongside my UX teammates, as well as the design of distinctive screens and elements associated with those flows, such as the toolkit of components and states needed by development/engineering teams. Additionally, I mentored Designers, Jr. Designers, and Interns in the development of their design craft and problem solving skills through conversations, workshops, and other team building experiences.
