Biography
In 1983, Maher Dawoud was born in Cairo, Egypt where he currently lives and works.
In 2005, He received his BFA from the Mural painting department in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt. After that he started as an Instructor in the faculty he was graduated from.

In 2009, He received his MFA from the same faculty under the title
“The Artistic values of the linear composition in German colored glass”.

In 2013, He obtained his PHD from the same faculty as well under the title “The employment of mosaics in installation art (analytical and comparative study) “.

Dawoud currently works as a teacher at the faculty of fine arts, mural department, as well as participating in various Mosaics Projects and exhibitions in and outside Egypt.

He is a randomly collector of any primitive, natural materials he find on his way, like shells on the beach, small wooden pieces, stones, metal pieces, fractured plates and mugs. He use glass bottles burned in a kiln reaching up 900 degree Celsius. He says that while collecting them he actually has no clear idea of what he is going to do using those materials. Although, he is sure that he will find their new and real place in this world.

For Dawoud, The interaction between him, the work and the viewer is his priority and aim in order to create his installations and to give the work a living spirit.

Dawoud’s work is mainly divided into projects. Every project has its own character , technique and materials.
