From a young age, I have always taken an interest in art and as I have grown older it seemed a natural transition to go towards graphic design. However, I still enjoy fine art, discovering artists on-line and heading to museums to check out the latest exhibitions is a good past time.
I am a hard-working individual and an enthusiastic team player who fundamentally holds an obsession for anything design related, from digital to hand crafted, showing great attention to detail. I have a keen eye for layout, colour and typography, and love searching for new fonts to update my collection. I have experience of many challenging briefs that have given me the opportunity express my individual taste. Successfully answering these briefs as well as finishing the project within a deadline is something I put great focus on.
I have reasonable knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, my favourite being Illustrator. I am becoming more confident talking about design with every critique and developing my communication skills through brainstorming ideas with staff as well as colleagues. The main outcome for all my work is to simply have fun with it. I have experience of many aspects of design as well as producing personal creative work.
My experience at University over the last 3 years has encouraged me to pursue a career within the Graphic Design industry, be that as a freelancer or working at a company. I feel I have the drive and motivation to apply all that I have learnt so far to future opportunities and am eager to continue this learning process.

Work Experience
Celtic Displays
Graphic Designer/Sign Maker
Celtic Displays are a sign manufacturer's who produce vinyl graphics for, among other things, shop fronts and windows. I helped out with the design of a few signs, learning the specialist computer software (Signlab) as I went along.I also become involved in the sign making (printing and cutting the vinyl and applying it to a range of materials) and installation process. (I actually helped out with the application of vinyl graphics to the front and side of a lorry.)

Education
University Of Glamorgan
Bachelor of Graphic Communication
My course at Uni has helped me to develop a wide range of skills that are essential for the creative communication process, including printed media, advertising, corporate branding, publicity, editorial, and information and interactive web design.
In the first year of the course, I gained a solid grounding in the elements of graphic communication. Type, brands, life drawing and computer graphics using industry-standard software were among the things that were explored and developed to be able to push my creative ideas using traditional media and new technologies. Visual Studies, Design in Context and Computers Graphic Applications were among the modules taken that year.
In year two, the focus is on a specific area of graphic communication, such as print and/or interactive media. Design theory is explored to help support practical work.An introduction to aspects of professional practice and development was undertaken in order to be prepared for the workplace. Interactive Designs (Using Flash) Graphic Design in Context and Professional Design Practice were among the modules that year.
The final year was basically a time to shine. Live briefs and competitions culminated in a major project and the annual design show. For this, I had the challenge of creating my own brief to showcase my skills. The Critical Research module culminated in a 2000 word dissertation on a design subjecct of our choice. My dissertation explored Art Nouveau, and looked at how it has given influence to the Psychedelic counter culture of the West Coast of the USA and in turn its authority on Graphic Design, paying particular attention the life and works of Victor Moscoso.
