All my art starts off as an original drawing.
I create around four small thumbnail sketches to figure out composition and what elements are to be included.

I decide on which composition to use and then sketch out the composition using an F pencil on A3 (297 x 420mm) Daler Rowney Marker Paper. When I have all the elements and main composition roughed out, I begin the drawing and inking stage.

The drawing and inking of each illustration will between 4 to 5 hours, depending on the complexity of the drawing. I draw using the Uni Pin Fine Line Technical pens, ranging from size 0.05 right up to size 0.8. To get heavier lines, I use a Staedtler Permanent Lumocolor marker. All of my drawings are done in black and white, I don’t use colour during the inking phase.

Each illustration is scanned into Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 using an A3 scanner. I work on a Mac Mini running macOS Sierra, coupled with an Apple Thunderbolt Display.

I clean up each drawing and then using a multilayered .PSD file, I colour the black and white drawing.

To colour my illustrations, I use a combined of swatches and the Lasso Tool in Photoshop and also the Brush tool. I begin with flat colours, choosing the most vibrant colour tones and variations I can find. I keep a colour wheel close by to decide on complimentary and split complimentary colours. I always use scans of watercolours, markers and pencils to complete the final illustration.

After each day of work, I record my process and my thoughts and feelings in my Logbook, which is an A5 Squared Moleskine notebook. Read Less

My main goal is pursue freelance work and work full time as a professional artist on a variety of creative projects, either in a private or studio environment.

My main objective is to secure full time paid freelance work as an artist and to build a portfolio of diverse creative projects.

I want to keep on practicing drawing everyday and hone my illustration skills. I also want to experiment and diversify my drawing skills and techniques with different materials. I want to expand my knowledge of emerging computer applications and technology. I want to make my artwork adaptable for and create potential content for UI, Social Media, Augmented Reality and emerging technology like VR.

I want to continue to self publish self initiated art projects and experiment with my illustration style and explore thematic concerns close to my own personal values and ideas. Read Less
