In every culture, monsters and creatures have existed in the minds of all story tellers, I am no different; still maintaining a unique eye for the magical, playful and twisted, I convey a world that many can embrace. Born in Panama city and came to live in Miami Florida at the age of 4. I was raised by a strong level headed single Cuban mom, who was quick to keep my brother and I in line. She told me many stories of her childhood and what it was like to live without freedom to do or say what you want and or felt.It helped me understand the importance of what I do as an artist. I am currently a student at College for Creative studies in Detroit Michigan,Bachelor of Fine Arts program with an Illustration/ Entertainment Arts concentration. My focus lately has been on cute fantasy creatures and character designs, but I still have a passion for conceptual painting and printmaking. I create maquettes filled with cuteness, fantasy and horror through clay and wire.
My work consists of colorful and odd yet playful characters called Boogas, but the occasional dragon or beast isn’t far from the wood works. The Boogas are like me quirky, cute and a lot more than what they seem. Each one has a story influenced by books and or folklore of my Hispanic culture.I want my audience to experience their darkest fears right at their fingertips, remember their inner child and not shy away from the odd and spooky even if its there first impulse Read Less
