Specializing in layout design, promotional graphics, packaging and branding, Hey Charlie Creative is a one-woman creative studio. As the sole founder and designer, I maintain client relationships, manage projects, oversee finances, all while developing original artwork, maintaining sharp technical skills, and keeping an eye out for emerging trends.

Alongside Northern Initiative’s Strategy and Communications Team, we develop branded print materials, resource graphics, client promotional materials, and editorial documents. I joined the Northern Initiatives team as a graphic design intern and became a contract designer in March 2013.

I worked closely with the Executive Director to develop brand direction for this non-profit contemporary art center. I managed daily operations, as well as creative direction such as developing the Scalehouse logo and brand identity, Scalehouse Gallery exhibition posters and show cards, vinyl wall graphics, event marketing collateral, website design, donor promotional materials, and additional creative projects.

I worked closely with the owner and small marketing team to manage brand direction. I was responsible for package design, digital marketing, print materials, company signage, advertisements, communicating with developers, and ensuring cohesive branding across mediums. In 2014, I was awarded the American Package Design Award by Graphic Design USA.

While working at printing services as a student attending Northern Michigan University, I was able to learn much about the printing process: large format, 4-color press, and large quantity jobs. I also assisted with layout and design for different pamphlets and flyers for Printing Services, as well as help to set up an electronic system to control all the printers around the campus.
