I am a user researcher, interaction designer, programmer, and technology scholar, focusing on virtual reality, tangible/wearable computing, interactive narrative and games, artificial intelligence, and steampunk/maker culture.

I strive to make playful, meaningful and creative interactive experiences, and to study how technology impacts our daily lives, culture and environment.

I work in the Department of Informatics at UC-Irvine as a Project Scientist, helping to build the Transformative Play Lab with Professor Josh Tanenbaum. I also work as a freelance interaction designer and developer for the Portland-based VR studio Shovels + Whiskey.

I have a PhD in Interactive Arts & Technology from Simon Fraser University, an MA in Linguistics from the University of California-San Diego and a BA in Philosophy & Celtic Studies from the University of Redlands. Read Less
