Key issues situating my design practice

First of them will be an intention to express my ideas in minimal, self-explanatory visual language. I think that good design should not need anyone standing by the side explaining what is it, how does it work or whom is it designed for. We get drowned in gigabytes of information noise everyday. We are forced to set up our inner filters in order not to loose the bits that are of actual importance. Vague, complicated visual communication with unclear message tends to be perceived as spam and therefore does not do the job. I believe that this statement applies to any field of graphic design, even those, which are very loosely separated from fine art. Although the question whether art can exist for art’s sake is discussible, my firm conviction is that existence of design for design’s sake is intolerable.
I try, sometimes unintentionally, make my concepts and designs serve people. Not because of my altruistic nature, but because I see lots of unexposed potential in everyday objects we are so used to we don’t even notice its inefficiency. I tried to prove this point in my Self-initiated Brief “Reinventing the Cocktail Menu” and one of the set briefs, where one of my goal was to make lives of London Underground buskers not only easier, but also profitable.
Another application of my views on design, which really inspires me, is infographics. The ability to convert thousands of written words into an exciting visual narrative is the field of design, which is far from reaching its maximum capability. At the age of Wikipedia, the age of total information accessibility and overload, minimizing the effort spent on conceiving the information might bring rewarding benefits.
