Katarína Macurová is a Bratislava based illustrator, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. As a notorious traveller she searches for inspiration in foreign countries, especially in Mexico where she lived for almost a year. Her last journey brought her to a desert town of El Paso in Texas, where she got to know Mexican American mural art. One day, in El Paso, she made digital sketches composed of layered mural photos and some lines. This later led to a style she uses nowdays, combining photos of several textures and digital painting. Then she realised her 2D illustrations can be „recycled“ back into a texture again and used in 3D illustration.
