Katina is a freelance photographer and creative designer based out of San Francisco California. In 2019 she received a BFA in Photography at Academy of Art University, with emphases in commercial photography and documentary film portraiture.

Katina’s professional experiences include over five years of working in the fashion and e-commerce industry in the Bay Area from startups and established photography studios to local businesses and personal clients. Through her experiences as a photographer, Katina also gained the skillsets as a photo producer, photo retoucher, social media content creator, and graphic designer.

Most of Katina’s work is in film though she does tend to dabble in the digital realm from time to time.

2019 SACRED HEIRLOOMS
A portrait series that explores an individual’s relationship to material items, specifically heirlooms that have been passed down to them. This series focuses on how these items shape their identity.

2018 PHOTOGRAPHING STRANGERS
Documentary portrait series of photographing strangers in the streets around the world upon their consent. This series is an experiment on creating new ethical practices in street photography.

2016 GENDER SPECTRUM
Gender Spectrum is a visual ethnography that sheds light on the growth of diversity of gender and sexual identity among young Americans.

2016 MARKED TERRITORY
Geographical series that documents the influence of graffiti throughout various places in California. This series raises questions about society’s inclination to claim territory in mas and micro scales.

2015 FRAGILE MASCULINITY
A lyrical portrait series. Through the use of symbolism of the Neo-Classical period through the Rennesaince period, each portrait opens a discussion of what defines masculinity in a modern context.

2014 COMMUNAL LIVING
Documentary series that follows the lives of ten different communal households of various socio-economic backgrounds. This series focused on the continual struggles of the 2008 housing crises in Sacramento California.
