Kate graduated from Michigan State University’s Honors College with a Bachelor's in English and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art, specializing in ceramics and sculpture. After graduating, Kate went to Denmark for a summer to work at the International Ceramics Research Center, then to Worcester, Massachusetts, to be an artist-in-residence at the Worcester Center for Crafts. In the summer of 2009 Kate began working and taking classes at Harvard Ceramics studio. Then, in May of 2010 Kate moved to Holland, Michigan and for six years taught classes and managed the pottery studio at the Holland Area Arts Council.

In 2011 Kate moved to Grand Rapids where she has been involved with the creative community through managing the pottery studio at the Cook Arts Center, teaching classes and working for the ceramics studio the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, as member of Dinderbeck, a volunteer and exhibiting artist for Site:LAB, selling pottery and making logo mugs for the Fulton Street Market, writing articles focused on arts and activism for the Rapidian and curating, exhibiting artwork and documenting for the Avenue for the Arts.

Kate also enjoys producing art and music shows to cross-pollinate the creative communities thriving in Grand Rapids and beyond, creating memorable and enriching events to build community and foster social activism.

Currently Kate keeps busy producing pottery for local restaurants and businesses while enjoying sharing her passion with 5-13 yr olds teaching clay classes at the Cook Arts Center.
