Although I freelanced as a graphic design artist and illustrator directly after obtaining my Associates Degree in 2003, I did so intermittently. My goal at that time was to work directly for a design firm/company. In the intervening years, I supplemented my infrequent freelance work with full time employment in unrelated fields.
I have recently decided to change the course of my creative professional life by dedicating myself wholeheartedly to working as a freelance graphic design artist and illustrator, and established JourneyManDesigns for my title.
As a Graphic Design Artist, the software tools I design with are Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Fireworks to produce Posters, Logos, Business Cards, Flyers, Advertisements, Tattoos, T-Shirts, Brochures, CD's, & Book Covers. As an illustrator, the primary mediums I illustrate in are pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, and pen & ink. Each illustration medium is unique in that they demand a separate approach and application of my artistic talent, making versatility my primary asset. I illustrate in different styles as well, including traditional, expressive, abstract, cartoonist and am adept with color and black and white.
In unison, graphic design and illustration allow virtually no limits to interpreting whatever my imagination is required to create, enabling me to design with unlimited creativity and visual imagination. With this technique, I offer greater flexibility, variability, and choices that assures maximum artistic achievement in every design for every client. Though each medium has its own tools and character, the true artist not only masters each one individually, but combines and blends each together to achieve the ultimate artistic vision. As a graphic design artist & illustrator, this artistic vision is my constant thought and primary goal.

I was hired by Prof. Charles Vorosmarty of The City College of New York as the Office Manager of CUNY Environmental CrossRoads Initiative. My position was terminated due to labor costs and free student labor.
Specific duties included:
•Arranged and scheduled international conference calls and overseas meetings.
•Collected and submitted extensive scientific data to receive government grants.
•Arranged and scheduled all domestic and international travel for three Ph.D. professors.
•Scheduled and organized individual calendars for three Ph.D. professors.

I was hired by EMCOR Group for the position of Accounts Payable Clerk. My position was terminated to reduce labor costs.
Specific duties included:
• Correlated and processed invoices and purchase orders for payment
• Received and inputed incoming service calls from clients and customers
• Designed record keeping forms for use within office and updated as needed
• Provided administrative support for special projects to all office departments
• Organized, updated, and maintained entire filing system
• Entered accounts receivable data entry on a daily basis

I entered the United States Navy as a Mass Communications Specialist aboard the USS Saipan.
Specific duties included:
• Designing creative posters, promotions, advertisements concerning ship activities
• Designing flyers for the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation department aboard ship (which
is in charge of coordinating tours and trips within a foreign country)
• Photoshop image correction for the photography shop
• Updating images to the ship's web site
• Designed layout, banners, text and photo corrections for USS Saipan yearbook
I also freelanced aboard ship designing tattoos and logos for US Navy sailors.

I attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division to study Web Design and Interactive Media. I did not graduate because I concluded web design was not a creative area and medium that I felt passionate about.

I attended the Kathrine Gibbs School and obtained my Associates Degree in Graphic Design/Visual Communications.
