Work Experience

Phones 4U

Video Producer

I am responsible from creating video content mainly for the YouTube channel but also to be used internally and on other social media channels.

My current role involves:

Content Planning:

Coming up with new content ideas that fit the brands identity and are in tune with what our customers want to see. Working with other departments, i.e. bloggers and social media, to create content to support their channels.

Pre-production:

Organizing all aspects of filming, for example: location scouting, getting all permissions required for filming, creating all documents needed for shooting i.e. shot lists and scripts. Preparing all equipment required for shoots.

Production:

Most shoots include only the presenter and myself out at a location. Therefore, I am in charge of everything from directing the presenter, setting up and operating all the camera, lighting and sound equipment and making sure everything runs smoothly, and we shoot everything we need. I also record any voice over work that needs to be done and shoot any photos that are required.

Post Production:

I am in charge of importing and cataloging all of the footage from shoots. I then edit it into the final product ensuring that it is in line with the Phones 4U brand, using Apple Final Cut Pro. I do all sound editing using Apple Soundtrack or Adobe Audition CC, create all on screen graphics in Adobe After Effects CC and Adobe Photoshop CC and source any music or extra audio that is required.

Motion Graphics:

I create motion graphics in Adobe After Effects CC to go on the YouTube channel, or to be screened on the in-store displays. This often involves creating assets from scratch in Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Illustrator CC.

Social Media:

I am responsible for uploading all of the content I make, and creation of other online assets such as cover images. I also moderate and answer the comments on the YouTube channels. I work closely with people on other social media channels, for example, Facebook and Twitter.

Archiving:

I am responsible for the organization of all previous projects onto the central server so that they are easily accessible, and easy to find for future reference.
Equipment and Software:

I edit on Mac Pros using Final Cut Pro, and also use Adobe Creative Suite on a daily basis. I shoot on a Sony FS700 with a variety of Canon lenses and camera equipment for example, Edelkrone sliders with action modules, Shape camera rigs and GoPros. I regularly sound equipment such as lavalier mics and shotgun mics, and lighting equipment which includes LED light panels and studio lights. I am responsible for the maintaining and logging all the equipment

Education

Staffordshire University

BSc Film Production Technology

My degree was incredibly practical which gave me a lot of experience in almost all areas of filmmaking, including script writing, directing, camera work, lighting, sound, producing, editing, colour grading and visual effects. This also allowed me to use a wide variety of equipment, from video hardware like studio cameras, digital video cameras and camera equipment like jibs and dollies, to other hardware like green screen studio setups including vision mixers lighting boards and studio lights. My degree also gave me the chance to use a lot of software for video editing, like Final Cut, AVID and Premier Pro, and visual effects software, like After Effects and Combustion, as well as other software like Final Draft and Photoshop. I also learnt skills to aid the distribution of film like basic html and DVD production.
