Education
Pratt Institute
Bachelor of Arts Film & Video
I've always worshipped filmmakers, but my first love was comics. When I started college in '81 mainstream comics were almost exclusively lite superhero fare. I didn't think it was possible to tell thoughtful, adult stories in comics, and have them taken seriously by the general public. All that changed during my years at Pratt- Spielgelman's Maus, the Hernandez Brothers' Love & Rockets, and Miller's Dark Knight. After graduating (with honors) with a B.A. in Film, I decided to take what I learned of storytelling, composition, pacing, etc. and apply it to comics.
