Joey Allaham is a noted name in the kosher food business, and proud owner of some of New York’s leading restaurants. He was born in Syria from where he inherited his passion and love for food. Namely Joey Allaham comes from a long line of successful butchers who used to provide their services to some of the most important people in Syria. His grandfather learned him a lot about meat, and helped him master the trade.

In 1993, along with his family, Joey Allaham took his expertise and immigrated to the US. They settled in New York City and there he recognized the need for improving the reputation of kosher food. His first job in the US was working as a stock boy at a mini-mart in Brooklyn. Determined to succeed and make a real change in the community, he was eventually able to raise funds and open his first kosher restaurant called Prime Grill. The restaurant was located on East 49th Street.

At that time Joey Allaham was still in his 20s, and his restaurant was visited by celebrity names and noted figures. The initial success of Prime Grill earned him a reputation as one of the best restaurant owners in the city. Later he was able to expand his business and open a Japanese steakhouse, Mediterranean-Asian fusion restaurant, and a gourmet food store, Prime KO, now Prime West, Solo, and Prime Butcher Baker. In 1992 Joey Allaham left his home country along with his family and settled in New York City. His parents wanted him to study law and become a lawyer, but he was determined to follow his own dreams and ambitions.

Over in the U.S. Joey Allaham started from the bottom, slowly rising to the top. Although he started his career as a stock boy in a mini-mart in Brooklyn, he never lost his passion and kept aiming towards bigger things. Eventually he raised enough funds to open his own restaurant which has always been his dream. When Joey Allaham opened his first restaurant Prime Grill, the kosher scene was virtually non-existent, which is why he wanted to create something different, distinctive and unique.
