INTERIOR ARCHITECT / DESIGNER / MAKER

Currently a Masters of Design candidate in the Interior Architecture Department at the Rhode Island School of Design, anticipated graduation May 2016. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fibers at Savannah College of Art & Design.

I am a designer, maker and problem solver. I investigate the intersection of material and process. The challenge of bringing together a multitude of individual elements to create a cohesive whole has been an important thread running through my work, no matter the medium. My interest in repurposed materials and structures has led me to focus on interior architecture and adaptive reuse.

How can materials be sourced in the most sustainable way? How can a building or space be retrofitted to meet current community needs and be socially conscious by design? What is the designer’s role and responsibilities when working with a community that they themselves are not a part of? How can the natural world be incorporated into everyday environments? Where and how does spirituality intersect with the built environment? These overarching questions related to the role of design in sustainability, community and the human experience of the built environment are the essence of my educational pursuits. Read Less
