Minnis investigates and challenges doctrines, principles and life experiences that shaped her maturity. Being born on an island, molded in feminity, and carved by Christian doctrine, she reflects on these things and uses her work to question their impact on her life. Through a varity of media, Minnis hopes to expose herself as a young Bahamian female.


BIO:

Jodi Minnis, born January 1995, graduated from Mt. Carmel Preparatory Academy, June 2012. She is currently pursuing an Associate of Fine Arts: Art at the College of the Bahamas. She is the Assistant Curator of the Central Bank of The Bahams Art Gallery, and the Pro Gallery, the College of The Bahamas. She is also the Gallery Assistant at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas. Minnis has exhibited in Nassau, New Providence and Freeport, Grand Bahama. She has also curated exhibitions such as Transforming Spaces 2015 at Antonius Roberts Studio and Gallery Hillside House (2015) and “The Past that Sharpened the Present” (2014) in the Pro Gallery. In 2014, she was award the Popop Junior Residency Prize and in August 2015, she was invited to participate in Caribbean Linked III residency program in Aruba. Read Less
