Visual Designer

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (TPG) is looking for a talented Visual Designer that can work broadly across multiple digital touch points, creating memorable, engaging and positive customer interactions with the TPG brand. A critical part of the marketing department, the Visual Designer will work closely with the web development team on tackling challenges across multiple web properties and presenting elegant solutions that enhance the user experience, make the complex simple and achieve organizational goals. The Visual Designer will take ideas from concept to delivery.


We are seeking a team player that has a passion for design, works well in a fast paced environment and is comfortable presenting ideas to cross-functional stakeholders. We want someone that considers UI design and development their greatest strength, but as a generalist would also provide meaningful contributions in other areas of design including video production, and the digital assets for web, email, etc.



Design and develop the front-end of several web properties

Assist marketers and other departments with hacking CSS/HTML needs to third party tools and html email templates

Produce brief training videos to guide clients through complex web processes

Wireframe, prototype and design great solutions to tough challenges, thereby reducing the need for aforementioned videos

Digital asset creation and contribution of design ideas on various projects



The Visual Designer must have experience with modern web technologies including experience with responsive design. We are looking for someone that is:


Excellent at designing usable, intuitive UI

Experienced with responsive, mobile-first design

Familiar with HTML and templates (Jade, Handlebars, etc.)

Proficient with CSS and CSS languages (SCSS, Less)

Familiar with UI frameworks (Bootstrap is a plus)

Comfortable with design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketch) and video tools (Premiere and After Effects)

Able to work closely with software development teams to implement designs

Comfortable using source code management tools such as Git



BS in computer science or related degree, or equivalent experience

4+ years of web development experience

At least 2 years of experience with responsive design

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
