Trained engineer and executive manager Javier Alvarado worked for many years as the head of some of Venezuela’s leading oil and gas enterprises. Today, Javier Alvarado consults businesses from all different industries, in particular from the energy sector. As a consultant, he offers guidance on the analysis and development of natural resource exploration and industrialization projects. He also provides operational and managerial development solutions for the goods and services subsectors of the oil industry.

Among myriad career achievements, Javier Alvarado earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Simon Bolivar University in Venezuela. He went on to work as an oil operations engineer for Venezuelan oil firm Lagoven S.A. Mr. Alvarado later joined Lagoven parent company and state-owned business Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), where he remained up until beginning his consulting work. He served in many leadership positions at PDVSA and PDVSA-owned subsidiaries. These roles included working as general manager of PDVSA’s engineering division, executive director of PDVSA, and director of the PDVSA research institution the Venezuelan Institute of Technology for Oil.

Outside of his work experience, Javier Alvarado has taught leadership and ethics and studied management at Ivy League institutions.
