A company that creates and licenses designs to manufacturers for greeting cards and other retail products. The company’s initial line of products was selected for the 2003 National Stationery Show’s esteemed New Product Display and was among “Best New Product” finalists in the Take Note® (Social Stationery Products) section. Quite Contrary has exhibited in industry trade shows in New York and San Francisco, collaborated with a leading manufacturer on product design presentations for Target, and currently has more than four-dozen designs under license with several national manufacturers.

Teaching responsibilities include: Graphic Design I (Design Thinking); Graphic Design II (Brand Identity Development); Web Design; Senior Seminar in Graphic Design (Digital/Print Portfolios, Personal Brand Identity System, Resume Development, Mock Interviews, and Senior Exhibition); Intro to Digital Images; and Graphic Design Internship.

Serve on the Instruc­tional Technology Advisory Committee, as well as the Art Department's NASAD Task Force. The AU Art department is currently NASAD accredited, and in the midst of conducting a self-study in preparation for renewal of our accreditation status in the 2013–14 academic year.

Primarily responsible for design and production of university collateral material, including the quarterly alumni magazine, all projects related to Continuing Education, publications for various special events, and recruiting materials for the Office of Admis­sion. As part of a two-person design team, had the opportunity to update and implement Furman’s new brand identity system. Often had the opportunity to work with the Director of Web Communications to conceptualize and create strategies for the re-design of several of the university’s many web sites.

Also scheduled all requests for photography and coor­di­nated the schedules of several photographers. Daily photography responsibilities included process­ing and posting photographs to the university’s intranet news site, as well as editing and archiving all incoming photographs. Also designed and implemented a keyword- and metadata-searchable archive of all campus photography.

Part-time adjunct position while also maintaining private practice. Classes taught include: Graphic Design I (Introduction); Graphic Design II (Brand Identity Development); Graphic Design III (Editorial and Publication Design); and Senior Seminar (Portfolio and Resume Development). Also served as an academic adviser and worked with Art faculty to strengthen the quality of the graphic design program, including revision of the design curriculum to reflect contemporary industry and academic (NASAD) standards.

A temporary position to design and implement an aesthetically consistent style for all aspects of
the university’s centennial celebration. Scope of projects included extensive print collateral, outdoor graphics and banners, as well as stage and set designs.

One-year contract to provide design and production on a variety of print publications for both web and offset printing. Gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience with the entire printing process, as well as related processes such as bindery and fulfillment.

A temporary position working with staff editors, internal clients and student interns to produce
effective student recruitment and fund-raising materials for all university programs.
