Jamie Pink

mosaic artist and teacher

Dallas, TX, USA
I work in all different kinds of art and often call upon painting, drawing, and photography to polish my mosaic work. I find that mosaic is an extremely accessible art form, although it is often misunderstood. I work for my own piece of mind and hope to inform a larger audience of its many uses in fine art.

Biography

Born and raised all over Texas, I graduated from the University of Texas with a BFA in 1979. I freelanced as an apprentice to commercial photographers from 1979-1982. I met my husband, Carl Weisbrod, in 1982 about the same time that I joined a family business. I worked in both the retail area and as an on staff product photographer.I began taking mosaics in 2004 and have steadily produced mosaic fine art pieces in both traditional techniques and materials, modern and contemporary materials and styles, including micro mosaics. I find it completely satisfying to paint with glass. I began to teach mosaics in 2010 at the Creative Art Center of Dallas, an adult art center. I teach mosaics weekly and give workshops in related techniques. It is my aim to spread the concept of mosaics as a fine art as well as a craft. I produced a western wear catalog for Boot Town/ Western Warehouse from 1986-1992. I had 3 children during this time. I am also lucky enough to have studied with many wonderful artists during these years.

I have studied with renowned painter Bill Komodore ad world class mosaicists Sonia King, Emma Biggs, Ilana Shafir, Mateo Randi, Sherri Warner Hunter, Ellen Blakely, Julie Richey, Verdiano Marzi, Antonella Gallenda, Giulio Menossi, Dugald McInnis, and many others.
