An accomplished Brand Design Professional with over 15 years of global design experience, James Pass comes from a long family line of creative individuals from Interior, Furniture and Graphic Designers to Photographers and Artists.

Based in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) since the late 90s, James has brought his creative talent and stalwart work ethic to this immerging market and beyond. Through gaining experience and exposure at leading International Branding and Design Agencies such as Minale Tattersfield, Fitch and Landor Associates.

Having worked for a wide range of different client industries regionally and international, James has a proven track record success in Hospitality, Telecommunications, Real Estate and Retail branding. James earned his creative spurs in his hometown of Sheffield (UK) at the steel cities college. A creative institute that over the years has seen the founders of such iconic design agencies ATTIK, Eg.g and Designers Republic learn their craft and leave its doors.

James joined Scope – a leading design and marketing agency based in Sheffield. Scope was based out of a beautiful Georgian building and housed the largest design agency outside of London with clients such as HSBC, First Direct and Whitbread.

After working in the United Kingdom the call to travel and work aboard came in the shape of Minale Tattersfield and the opening of their studio in the Emirate of Sharjah. Working for FMCG clients within the region James worked in his first truly multicultural studio. However with the rapid growth of the small Emirate next door to Sharjah, James took the opportunity to move to Dubai and work for a small boutique-advertising and design agency. Grafix Advertising primary clients were Microsoft, Bosch and MMI.

James joined Gregg Sedgwick’s boutique branding agency in 2003 as the sixth member of staff. Based in Dubai’s Media City, gscs quickly became a leader in the design-branding field within the GCC aggressively competing with the many international agencies that came to Dubai to capitalize on the growth within the region. FITCH acquired gscs in 2005, becoming the market leader overnight in brand strategy, brand communication, 3D environments and signage and wayfinding. As Design Director James managed a team of 2D and 3D designers and was behind the success of numerous major projects. Leading the team on the rebranding of Rotana Hospitality and 35 of their global hotels, the launch of Atlantis - The Palm, as well as a multitude of real estate projects for Sama Dubai, Mizin and Abyaar Real Estate Development.

In 2010 James joined the Global Branding Agency ‘Landor Associates’ at their new Dubai office as Design Director/Creative Director. Though originally based in the Dubai office, James had opportunities to work and act as Creative Director for Landor’s up and coming Mumbai office on new hospitality projects. Continuing to use Dubai as a hub, James’ creative experience took him across the global working on projects in Northern Europe, Eurasia, North Africa, and Asia as well across the Gulf. Working on projects such as the branding for Masdar and TeliaSonera.

Through this exposure James has attracted his own set of clients locally and from across the global. Either passionate start-ups looking to make their mark to long established companies needing an overdue rebrand. James has attracted clients from varying industries from as far as Texas in the United States to Cebu in the Pacific. Read Less
