Projects Prospection Workshop / Zaragoza 2016 European Capital of Culture | Spain

The Candidacy to European Capital of Culture - Zaragoza 2016 was converted as an exceptional opportunity for recovery and reuse of public assets: starting of April 2011 a working group was established, participated by the University of Zaragoza and the University of San Jorge. With encounters that emerged as productive meetings between architects and cultural agents, recovery projects in disuse spaces were developed for cultural purposes and as a complement to the existing cultural facilities.

The projects developed at the Projects Prospection Workshop - Zaragoza 2016 were compiled into a final documentation booklet, later published in Z magazine from the Demarcation of Zaragoza COAA.

Nonprofit cultural and private entity with public and international projection, which focuses on cultural management, jobs for young graduates and promotion of social participation, leading its field of study and action on sustainable recovery processes and/or reoccupation of abandoned urban structures and its connection to public space and landscape, in relation to the creative possibilities motivated by the contemporary situation.

Based on artistic, technic, scientific and social practices, and through experimental approaches, the aim is the realization of each project on a creative, original and on network perspective.

Through an open collaborations system, the ///popcorn/// platform assumes the ability to respond to each project in a multidisciplinary way. The ///popcorn/// initiative is intended to respond to events and projects that cause restlessness and promote personal and public reflection for particular causes or situations of everyday life, under political and social concerns, ensuring universal accessibility and inclusion.
