Born and raised in Manila, Peter Ian Capocao started photography for his college school newspaper. After taking a course in Occupational Therapy for a few years, he soon realized that photography was his main passion and decided to focus on it. He started as a photographer in the fashion industry.

Nevertheless, the fascination for the human mind inherited from his occupational therapy studies remained intact and served as inspiration. In effect, his art is both a reflection of his humanism and his prowess in the artform and creative process that gives him the specific color that he applied to his photography work. Thus, Peter decided to focus on human drama photography-- a photography type that is centered on capturing the feelings and emotions of people in a specific moments, the person's true self beyond the mask, the instant beyond the mere image. Thus, the art is founded on the humanistic and social interactions of the subject.

He soon applied this photography approach to some of his recent works, for example, his most recent vision in "Before the Sunrise", an exhibit which had as a leitmotiv to shed light on this simple question: Why do people go out? Another application of human drama photography which he pulled off recently was "The Art of Cycling", a photo collection that focuses on the community and the experiences they had throughout the intense effort of long bicycle riding in the most picturesque corners and landscapes of the Philippines. This photo collection led him to be among the sixty (60) artists invited to participate in an exhibit for Fringe Manila, an organization that seeks to promote the Philippines as an art culture destination for local and international artists.

Peter Ian Capocao's human drama photography aims to understand the importance of small things in real moments. For him, human drama photography as an approach is his way of highlighting what others perceived as unimportant and irrelevant.
