Interior design has always been a passion of mine since secondary school. I found myself playing building and design games like The Sims 3 and refusing to sleep at night, thinking about how to improve and what I can do better. I then became curious about interior design and how it impacts people’s behavior. This fuelled my desire to seek out how I could personally affect people through my design. I am convinced that interior designers play an important role in our everyday lives, by considering both practicality and aesthetics to create a unique space that presents the audience with a desirable experience.

I self-studied interior design trends and styles by browsing interior design images, reading magazines, and participating in discussion forums on the internet, and watching videos from YouTube and Netflix. My idol, Keith Haring, has been my inspiration to challenge the idea of “art” through art, and allow the art to speak for itself. These sources have challenged my thoughts on the design on several occasions and have inspired me to improve my creative thinking and gain additional exposure to more design possibilities.

As someone whose goal is to be an interior designer aiming to influence the design scene in my home country, I am eager to learn more about the range of design possibilities, further challenge my skill, and experience different cultures in a different country that would trigger my design sense and broaden my capabilities with fresh and limitless inspiration. I look forward to furthering my qualifications and capabilities in interior design through a degree-level education in the United Kingdom and sharing my skills in critical creative thinking, design visualization, and visual communication with my peers whilst likewise expanding my horizons with the learning community.
