George Munday, writer, photographer and war baby - yeah, that old! A working class kid, he absorbed culture, art and read just about everything. A graduate of Birmingham School of Photography he's been a photo-journalist; advertising photographer; industrial photographer; studio photographer; still life photographer; landscape photographer and photo workshop tutor. He co-directed Slidefile stock agency, then established the Irish Image Collection.

In 2007 he returned to freelance photography and established Copper Coast Workshops to tutor in Digital Photography. Seven years later he relocated to Spain, as busy as ever, as both photographer and a writer.

Now living in Spain, I no longer shoot commercially, just because I love it. But I also write.

My first book, "Waterford, A County Revealed", a photographic journey through the Irish county is featured here on Behance. My second book, "Flights of Fantasy," an illustrated, evocation of a life during and between the two World Wars is now in the bookshops.

My third book, still under wraps is nearly complete. Watch this space....

Tutor and Owner

Whilst working freelance in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland, I set up the workshops to teach the newly introduced art of digital photography. The course included basic photography, learning to see, and Photoshop techniques.

Initially a photographic studio, the business morphed into a stock photo-agency. It grew organically during the first few years, then expanded very quickly with the introduction of stock catalogues and image syndication. Whenever time allowed however, I continued shooting stock for the agency.

In pre-digital times photojournalism involved photographing, dark room work, captioning and occasionally writing longer stories. The aim was to tell a visual story by interpreting and communicating events. It required instant decisions - even at a local level - and even if the conditions were not optimal.
