Product Development Lead, Hatch Idea Development

Jose helps business owners bring new products to market through the process of market

assessment, concept development, design, and prototyping, including production supervision.

Mr. Gamboa obtained a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from the Savannah College of Art

and Design and later taught as a full-time faculty where he was involved in Special Project

Classes. These classes were partnerships with innovation-based organizations such as Carbon

Motors and the Small Grant Donations Program of the United Nations.

Mr. Gamboa has had the opportunity to experience design as the catalyst for innovation. Jose

began his career as an industrial designer with Husqvarna. In 2006, Gamboa spent seven

months in Italy collaborating with the supercar brand Pagani Automobili and Modena Design in

the development of new products for super car brand Pagani. After his return, he worked in the

infant mass market industry in the Georgia based company Kids II and made multiple trips to

Asia oversee manufacture process for the 2010 line of products. Gamboa continued to

Gwinnett-based Slingshot Product Development Group. After less than one year, Jose headed

Design for the company. In 2016, Jose started his own product development company, Hatch

Idea Development.

Jose has always had an interest in education and learning. Because of this passion, his

reputation grew quickly very early in his career and he was invited to deliver a TED Talks

episode in 2013. His quick sketching techniques are the cornerstone of his design

prowess. Drawing is a tool to foster innovation. In 2012 he co-founded Sketching Lab, a 3-day

intensive design event that takes place in Costa Rica.

Jose also created an innovative way to teach the basics on design sketching skills “Sketch

Aerobics TM” that enables new artists to draw perfect shapes almost immediately.

Jose’s diverse background and valuable work experiences make him a well-rounded design

professional that brings an innovative approach to every opportunity.

What makes Jose’s approach so successful is his philosophy of educating and involving clients

and students alike in the development process, taking them on a journey to uncover the needs

and attitudes of the end user and making sure the end result also reflects the client’s vision. Read Less
