rebuildjoplin.org This project called for creation of two advocacy posters within the possible themes of: dissent, liberation, racism, sexism, human rights, civil rights, environmental and health concerns, AIDS, war, literacy and tolerance. The posters were to include both a type + image combination as well as type as image variation. I chose to advocate for Joplin, MO relief efforts. I visited Joplin one week after the May 22, 2011 tornado devastated the city. I’ve had a great attachment to the city and my heart goes out to all those involved with the storm. It was apparent upon my visit that the people of Joplin would be faced with reconstruction for years to come. It was also apparent that once the initial shock of the storm was over, people outside of Joplin would move on with their lives. My choice of organization, Rebuild Joplin, gave the most resources in order for people in order for people to gain awareness of the help that Joplin still needs and how they can help relief efforts. My call was to attract college-aged students to the understanding that Joplin is not hardly close to being rebuilt. My hopes were to reach young adults and call them to lend time and resources to Joplin. Read Less
