Stop killing our cinema

The global crisis that has been crushing us is more than just economic in nature. As italian citizens we are suffering from a significant social and cultural degradation that is slowly but surely consuming us.The last attempts to what was once a nation of the arts and culture, have been, according to the recent economic reform, significant reductions in state funds.The Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, an organization that includes the National Film Archive, and the oldest film school in the world (Scuola Nazionale di Cinema), a pole for research and development since 1935, risks, every year, to fall victim of a progressive wave of cultural degradation, and amongst other things its very existence.We, the students of the National Film School, together with the professors, the administration, and professionals of the film industry have discussed, and formulated a plan of action regarding our protest: we have decided to occupy the premises and  intend to hold a press conference tomorrow, the 1st of June 2010 in the main hall of the National Film School in Rome at 12:00.
