i have been desperately searching for hip hop in paris, and i finally found it at marche malik, a market inside the enormous marche aux puces at porte de clignancourt. for me, hip hop is not just music. its a powerful form of cultural expression that profoundly tells the personal story that these individuals go through on a daily basis. among other things, hip hop is about life, love, struggle, happiness, hurt, abilities to conquer, and the desperate voice of change. the men in these photographes represent hip hop in every way. i connected with these individuals without listening to their music proving that this genre is far more than what it seems.
