In 1960 there were 49 movie theaters in Helsinki. In 2006 there are only 8 left. This is a nostalgic tribute to the old cinemas - to the palaces where the movies (and heck, even movie-goers) once were kings.

The photographs are taken in fall 2006 in four of the oldest remaining movie theaters of Helsinki: Bio Rex, Orion, Maxim and Forum. (Of which Forum was closed down during summer 2006.)

All photos shot with Holga on Kodak Portra 100T, using available light.

Displayed in a solo exhibition at Galleria Lasipalatsi, Helsinki, Finland in September 2006.
